Aurora Borealis – Northern (unusually southern) Lights!
Last Friday, the 12th of September, was quite unusual. There had been lots of solar activity earlier that week and a pretty strong geomagnetic storm was predicted to arrive to earth on Friday. The predictions said that the storm would reach lever 6 or G2 and that auroras could be seen as far south as Helsinki and even further south in Estonia and British Isles.
Indeed they were right and even though the moon was up, it was pretty cloudy and I didn’t have a chance to leave the light polluted city area for a better place I got some photos of the northern lights from Tapiola Espoo!
